Zoey Mendoza, age 13, went into the arms of Jesus on January 7, 2026, at her home in Baltic. A Celebration of Zoey’s Life will begin at 1:30 PM Friday, January 16, 2026, at Quarry Rock Church in Dell Rapids. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday, at the church.
Zoey Marie Mendoza was born on November 4, 2012, in Sioux Falls, to Zachariah and Keshia (Koerner) Mendoza. At the age of three months, she moved with her family to Baltic. She attended Baltic School from Preschool to Junior High and was currently a seventh grader.
Zoey was a bright star, she always cared deeply for others and cheered them up when feeling down. She would light up the darkest room with her smile. She loved music; you could almost always see her bouncing around with her headphones. She loved roller blading, skateboarding, and being on the trail with her siblings and friends. Zoey loved her siblings and cared for them like another mother. She played in the band, and enjoyed anything to do with art and drawing. She also loved helping her mom bake delicious goodies and going target shooting with her dad. She dominated all her family whenever they would play games. Zoey was the sweetest, most kind, caring girl and will be missed by all.
Zoey will be forever remembered by her parents, Zach and Keshia Mendoza, and her cherished siblings, Donte, Rayden, and Owen; grandparents: Rafael and Dawn Mendoza, and Delano and Erlene Koerner; her aunts and uncles: Nathan (Amanda) Mendoza, Tabitha Mendoza, Hudley (Akemi) Koerner, Thayeiss Koerner; and many cousins and friends.
