Bobbi Marie Christensen

Roberta, "Bobbi" Marie Christensen, 78, from Flandreau SD, died peacefully on Saturday, March 7th at Dougherty Hospice House, surrounded by family. A celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at Minnehaha Funeral Home of Dell Rapids. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 am, with the service to follow.

Bobbi was the first of 16 children born to Bob and Goldie VanDam. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1966. She was united in Marriage to Richard Christensen on January 28th, 1967. They made their home on an acreage outside of Dell Rapids. They moved to Flandreau in 2006.

Bobbi loved cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved reading and sewing and watching True Crime on TV. Bobbi and Dick enjoyed traveling to Southwest Florida in the winter, and loved hosting family "Ribfest" every August.

Bobbi is survived by her husband of 59 years, Dick, and their 4 children, Lisa (Scott) Jorgensen, Colman, SD, Denise (Bill) Schmidt, Dell Rapids, SD, Angie (Paul) Eide , Stratham, NH, and Steve (Jodi) Christensen, Rosemount, MN. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Jordan Krogstad, Miranda (Brittany) Tricarico, Jessica (Ryan) Thornell, Casey Schmidt, Ethan (Caitlyn) Schmidt, Ryan Schmidt, Cameron Eide, Lauren Eide, Kayden Christensen and Brady Christensen. She was Gigi to Jack, Madelyn and Charlotte Thornell. She is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Rodney and Steve, and her sisters, Valerie and Kathy, and her beloved dog, Molly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dougherty Hospice House and Avera Cancer Institute.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at the Avera Prairie Center, and the staff at Dougherty Hospice house, especially Claire, who prayed over mom in her final days.
