Quintin Paul Nemmers, age 98, of Dell Rapids, SD, died Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids, SD with Fr. Shane Stevens celebrating. Burial with military honors will follow at the St. Mary Cemetery in Dell Rapids.
Visitation hours will be Tuesday, November 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 Rosary at the Minnehaha Funeral Home of Dell Rapids, SD.
Quintin was born March 20, 1925 to parents Joseph and Magdelena (Roeder) Nemmers in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He was eleven of thirteen children. He attended St. Mary’s school in Dell Rapids. After graduation he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He was stationed in Alaska as an engineer in the 31st division. He returned to the family farm where he remained up to his death.
Quintin was united in marriage to Florence Scully on May 15, 1957 in Iona, Minnesota. In their forty-seven plus years together, they raised nine children on their farm outside of Dell Rapids. He was a member of the Dell Rapids American Legion, served on the township board and was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish and was a strong supporter of St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Quintin passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023 surrounded by his family at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Proud to have shared his life with his wife Florence, are his children, Steven (Joanne), Joseph (Pamela), James (Kristin), Robert (Barbara), Mary (Robert Taddei), David (Jamie), Ann (Paul Wilson), Joyce (Gene Wolters), Alice (Jim DeHaai); and grandchildren, Jennifer (JT Harbourt), Michelle (Brian Costaldo), Rebecca (Anthony Beck), Roman, Noah, Morgan, Thomas, Olivia, Virginia, Nicole (Calvin Olsen), Mark (Sarah), Kelly, Megan, Nicholas Taddei, Benjamin Taddei, Davis, Katie, Noelle, Ethan, Christopher; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Julia, Sonny, and Mason.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Florence; daughter-in-law, Barbara Nemmers; and grandson Christopher Nemmers.
