Pam was born August 26, 1956, to Leon and Dorothy (Varns) Welbig in Dell Rapids. She attended high school at Tri-Valley, attended LPN nursing school at Lake Area in Watertown, then worked 3 years at Sioux Valley Hospital. She then continued on to RN school at Presentation College. After graduation, she moved to Green Bay and met her husband Jeff there. As he worked for the federal government, there was a lot of travel across this great country! Because she was able to get jobs as a nurse anywhere, she traveled with Jeff.

Pam became a Civil War history enthusiast while living in West Virginia and has financially supported Preservation of Civil War Battle Sites over the years. She was a devout “history buff” and believes that we learn from our mistakes by remembering where we came from! After the divorce Pam worked 6 years at Rapid City Regional Hospital and then back to Sioux Valley/Sanford Hospital for 20 years. She worked as a nurse for 45 years.

Pam was blessed with two sisters and six brothers who grew up as “a close bunch.” There were always arguments with her Viking siblings because Pam was a long-time Packer Fan even owning stock in the Packers! It’s just fun to watch a winning team every year!

Pam is survived by: Patricia Ordalen (Kevin) twin sister and siblings Robert Welbig (Bonnie), Thomas Welbig (Sherrie), Steven Welbig (Susan), Lori Filler (Bryant), Brian Welbig (Teresa), Randy Welbig (Sandra), and Timothy Welbig (Brenda), 17 nieces and nephews, and 27 great nieces and nephews, Carol Anderson (close friend to Pam and Pat), all her neighbors in her cul-de-sac, and her beloved dog Emit.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Dorothy Welbig.
