Neal Busser

Neal Busser, age 86, of rural Colton, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at his home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024, at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, rural Colton. Private family interment in the church cemetery will precede the funeral service. Visitation will be form 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton. Memorials may be directed to Avera Home Hospice or St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church.

Neal was born on September 26, 1938, in Chester, SD, to Henry J. and Martina Johanna (Boon) Busser. Her grew up in the Buffalo Trading Post area and continued to live and farm there his entire life. He attended Washington Country School and then helped his dad and brother farm. On December 26, 1959, he married Betty Schut. They settled on the farm where they would spend their entire married life and raised their family.

Neal was a member of the St Jacob’s Lutheran Church. He served on the Chester School board and the Buffalo Township Board. He loved red tractors and turkey hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, Colton; children: Leon (Lisa) Busser, Lane (Mary) Busser, Wayne (Pam) Busser, Sonya Vander Wolde, and Monte (Molly) Busser, all of Colton; grandchildren: AJ Busser, Ben Busser, Matt Busser, Jake Busser, Tyler Busser, Josh Busser, Zac Busser, Jakob Fairbotham, Annette Sanchez, Hannah Vander Wolde, and Meredith Busser; fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Joseph Allen Busser, and siblings, Arie Busser, William, Busser, and Aleida Groos.
