Marvin Aldrich, age 93, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Peaceful Pines in Madison. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Humboldt. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Minnehaha Funeral Chapel, Colton, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Humboldt.
Marvin was born on April 16, 1931, in Sioux Falls, to Fay and Lena Aldrich. He grew up on a farm near Colton and attended country school. After his brothers entered the service during World War II, Marv began working on the farm. On February 15, 1950, he married Esther Rehfeldt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Humboldt. They lived and farmed on Hwy 19 north of Buffalo Trading Post. Esther died on October 24, 2000. Marvin continued to live on the farm until 2020 when he moved into Madison.
Marvin loved bowling, playing cards, and taking bus trips to casinos. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran in Humboldt.
Survivors include his children: Renae (Doug) Feucht, Baltic, Marlys (Virgil) Schaefer, Colton, Rick Aldrich, Madison, and Randy (Judy) Aldrich, Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Keith Aldrich, Springfield, MO, and Darlene Lofstedt, Dell Rapids; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther; daughter JoAnn Van Dam; daughter-in-law, Kristy Aldrich; and a brother, Alvin “Sonny” Aldrich.
