Lucille Ellen Bixenmann, age 76 of Dell Rapids, SD, passed away at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD on September 20, 2025.
A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids with Pat Eidsness officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the Grand Island Cemetery in Grand Island, NE.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
Lucy was born on September 15, 1949 in Grand Island, Nebraska to parents Russell and Margaret (Lewis) Snyder. Lucy went to school and graduated from Grand Island, Nebraska. She worked at a phone company after graduating.
Lucy married Kurt Gibson and lived in Grand Island. This union was blessed with two children, Adam and Ryan. Kurt passed away in 1980.
Lucy and Bill were married December 18th, 1982 and they moved Dell Rapids, SD in 1987.
Lucy worked at First National Bank up until she retired. She loved shopping, especially at Hobby Lobby. Lucy really enjoyed her arts and crafts. Which she would decorate her entire house to fit each season. She enjoyed her trips with Bill in the Corvette. Most of all her favorite thing to do with her spare time was to hang out on the deck with friends and family.
Lucy passed away peacefully with her friends and family by her side on Saturday, September 20th,2025.
Lucy was grateful to have shared her life with her kids: Adam Gibson of Dell Rapids, and Ryan (Ann) Gibson of Peyton, CO; stepson, John Bixenmann; stepdaughter, Jackie (John) Bartu ; grandchildren, Dylan Gibson, Aydan Crisp, Mia Lahr, Caitlin Stalhnecker, Kylee Meyer, Sierra Bixenmann, Bryce Bartu, and Taylor Brase ; great-grandchildren, Dahlia Wassinger, Kane Meyer; and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Margaret Snyder; first husband who passed away in 1980, Kurt Gibson; husband, Bill Bixenmann, who passed in 2014; granddaughter, Amber Weitzel; and brother, Russ Snyder.
