Loma L Nelson

Loma (Ruud) Nelson, age 84, of Hartford, SD, was called home to heaven on March 14, 2024, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Baltic. The burial will follow at Benton Lutheran Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation an hour prior to the service.

Loma was born on November 30, 1939, near Hartford to Arthur C. and Kathryn Ruud. Loma married Russell W Nelson on July 14, 1962. They were happily married for forty-nine years until Russell passed away in September 2013.

Loma was a member of Benton Lutheran Church in Crooks, SD. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Russell, in Canada, Idaho, and other places. She also enjoyed fishing, and loved her animals (especially her cats). She also enjoyed her years working in the banking business.

Loma is survived by her brother, Arlen (Diane) Ruud, Hartford;  nieces and nephews whom she loved: Sandra Carolan, Kansas City; Janet Zoss, Sioux Falls; Kathy Eisenberg, Sioux Falls; Jeff (Bev) Nelson, Dell Rapids; John Nelson, Hartford; Linda (Marlin) Elbers; Steen, MN; Judy Nelson, Hartford; Jamie (Monica) Nelson, Hartford, and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; parents, Arthur and Kathryn Ruud; and nephew, Bill Nelson.
