Kathleen Myre

Kathleen Myre, age 65, of Garretson, SD passed away peacefully at her home early Thursday morning, January 8, 2026 in Garretson.

Memorial service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson, SD with Rev. Corey Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the Jasper City Cemetery in Jasper, MN.

Visitation with family present will be Tuesday, January 13th from 5 – 7 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson.

Kathleen Ann Kreun (Kathy) was born December 29, 1960 in Huron, SD to Harley and Delores (Brockberg) Kreun. She lived in Huron, SD, Coralville, IA and Pipestone, MN before settling in Jasper, MN in 1969.

Kathy married Don Myre on November 24, 1984 and made their home in Garretson.

Throughout the years, she worked at Palisade Manor in Garretson, Children’s Care Hospital and Citibank, both in Sioux Falls. Kathy spent the last 24 years of her career working at Wells Fargo in Sioux Falls before retiring in 2023.

Kathy loved to spend her time camping, taking pontoon rides, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed attending her grandson’s sporting events. In the summer time you could always find her cruising around on the golf cart at Stoney Point in Lake Benton, MN. She loved spending her days with her campground family.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Don Myre; daughter, Kayla (Josh) Bolstad; son, Aaron Myre and friend Trisha Johnson; grandchildren, Jace Bolstad and Brody Job; sister, Amy (Jim) Bruining; brothers-in-law, Gordon (Jody) Myre and John (Ann) Myre; sister-in-law, Denise Myre; six nieces, two nephews, numerous great nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Delores Kreun; sister, Shelley Kreun; father and mother-in-law, Gene and Lois Myre; brother-in-law, Doug Myre; niece, Casey Bruining; and great-niece, Karlie Bruining.
