Janice Kay Peterson

Janice Kay Peterson, age 78, of Renner, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Palisade Healthcare in Garretson. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner, SD. Interment will be in the Pioneer Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday, at Renner Lutheran Church.

Janice Christenson was born March 31, 1944 to William and Nina (Jurgens) Christenson in Sioux Falls, SD.

She attended school at Renner Grade School and graduated from Brandon High School in 1962.

She was baptized, confirmed and married at Renner Lutheran Church where she was an active member.  She was most proud of becoming the first woman council president at RLC.  She was involved in the ELCW, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the church choir along with many other organizations.

She was united in marriage to Wademan Peterson on November 21, 1962 at Renner Lutheran Church.

She worked for several years at the Western Ho Country Club until they bought the family farm, then she became Wade’s number one hired hand for the next several years.

Janice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wade; children: Billy (Sherry) Peterson of Sioux Falls, Julie (Chad) Erickson of Renner and Jay (Carmela) Peterson of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Mark Christenson of Springfield, SD; sister in law, Sue Christenson of Cody, WY; ten grandchildren: Dominique (Perry Larsen) Thompson, Daryn Thompson, Danielle (Lance) Ragsdale, Dena and Demi Erickson, Alyssa (Henry Yan) Peterson, Amanda (Chris Santini) Peterson,  AJ (Brittany Jackson) Peterson, Malik & Caleb Peterson; and 11 great grandchildren, Rose, Nina, Nikkole, John-Michael, Cynthia, Adalynn, Isaiah, Quinn, June, Lian and Charlette  with another due in December, along with many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nina Christenson, in-laws, Juden and Beatrice (Wallin) Peterson and brother, Alfred (Fred) Christenson.
