Evelyn Catherine Weinacht

Evelyn Weinacht, age 98, of Dell Rapids, SD, passed away peacefully on March, 24, 2026, with family by her side. A private family service was held at an earlier date.

Evelyn was born on March 16, 1928, to Frank and Helen (Reistoffer) Hinricher. She grew up in rural Colman, South Dakota, and later moved to Dell Rapids. She married Michael Weinacht, her high school sweetheart, on June 6, 1950. They made their home in Dell Rapids for over 70 years. Evelyn worked as a nurse at the Dell Rapids Hospital for several years. In 1973, she and Michael became business owners with their purchase of the grocery store until their retirement. Evelyn cared deeply for those around her, as reflected in the hospice care she gave to some Dell Rapids residents after her retirement from the grocery store. Evelyn spent over twenty years volunteering at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Evelyn may not be remembered for her words, but she will always be remembered by her kind deeds and generosity.

She is survived by her children: Patrick (Sherry) Weinacht of Milbank, Connie (John) Voelker of Renner, Duane Weinacht of Big Stone City, and Kevin (Lynn) Weinacht of Cresco, IA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her brother, Omer Heinricher of Denver, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, parents, two grandchildren, and four brothers.
