Dean Edward Cressman
October 20, 1957 — November 30, 2022
Dean Cressman, age 65, passed away on November 30, 2022, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD, with burial at the Rosendal Cemetery in rural Sherman, SD. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made in Dean’s name to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, Veterans organizations or any charity of your choice. Dean enjoyed being a giving and generous person who would want to continue passing that along.
Dean Edward Cressman was born on October 20, 1957 to Irving and Lavina Cressman. He was employed for many years with Honeywell, then later moving to Trane and retiring from there. He graduated from the University of Sioux Falls.
Dean married the love of his life Karolyn (Schneider) Cressman on February 15, 1992. The couple lived in Sioux Falls. They enjoyed walking together and inspired many people by walking hand-in-hand every day until Dean no longer could. Dean was an incredibly gifted and talented builder and gardener. He built their dream home over 30 years with his own hands. He and Karolyn also tended to their garden together with great care, always enjoying sharing their harvest with family and friends. Dean and Karolyn enjoyed travelling together, visiting many places, yet always enjoying coming back to their favorite place of all, home. Dean also enjoyed attending the annual Sturgis Bike Rally, taking annual fishing trips with friends who were like family, spending time with his close friends and the farmer’s market every weekend with family.
Dean enjoyed walking, building, gardening, canning, travelling, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, and spending time with their rescue pets. Dean was loving, kind, generous, thoughtful, strong, talented and faithful. Dean was a member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Dean is survived by his loving wife Karolyn and her family, along with his siblings, Janet (Vern) Stofferan, Dennis, Linda (Harvey) Aman, Dan (Carol) Cressman and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Lavina and a sister, Jean.
