David Wilbert Schlueter

David Schlueter, age 66, of Trent entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Ava's house in Sioux Falls, surrounded by the love of his family. Services will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids, SD, with visitation beginning at 2:00 PM.

David was born on July 19, 1960, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, to Willy and Louise Schlueter. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills, Minnesota, where his faith and values were nurtured from an early age.

In 1980, David proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor until 1985. During his military service, he was stationed in Maine, Japan, Iceland, and Spain. His years in the Navy instilled in him a quiet strength, discipline, and deep appreciation for service.

After returning home, David built a career defined by dedication and hard work. He spent 20 years at Hutchinson Technology before working another 17 years with Sioux Falls Crane & Hoist. Whether on the job or at home, David believed in doing things the right way and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

On September 12, 1997, the same anniversary as his mom and dad, David married the love of his life, Marsha. Together they built a life centered on family, and unwavering commitment. He was a devoted husband, a proud father to Chance Brown and Courtney Howatt, and an adoring grandfather to Jaxon, Lucas, Clara, Goldie, Crosby, and Sonny. His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and every moment spent with them was a treasure.

David loved the outdoors and embraced every opportunity. Whether he was bow hunting, fishing, camping, playing softball, or simply spending time outside, he found peace in nature. He never hesitated to share his time, talents, or wisdom with those in need. Those who knew David will remember his calm and gentle spirit, his quiet grace, and his wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of making people feel comfortable, valued, and cared for. He didn't seek recognition or praise; instead, he lived with kindness, and a servant's heart.

His greatest accomplishment was not found in his career or achievements, but in the love he gave to his family and the example he set every day. David's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the family he loved so deeply. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort knowing he has been welcomed into eternal peace.

David is lovingly survived by his wife, Marsha Schlueter; his children, Chance (Tiffany) Brown and Courtney (Alex) Howatt; his cherished grandchildren, Jaxon, Lucas, Clara, Goldie, Crosby, and Sonny; his siblings, Bruce (Lisa) Schlueter, Karen (Rob Morland) Schlueter, and Aaron Schlueter; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willy Schlueter, and several aunts and uncles.
