Christine Marie Turnwall

Christine Marie Turnwall, age 64, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 following a long battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 20, 2021 at Renner Lutheran Church in Renner, SD with Rev. Laura Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow at South Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 19 ^th from 2-4 PM at the Renner Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers family wish memorials which will be directed to the Renner Lutheran Church Sunday School.

Christine was born to Wendell and Georgia (Safar) Meeter September 23, 1957, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She graduated from Washington High School in 1975.  In her first marriage she was blessed with two children, Wendy and Benjamin. She continued her education at Sioux Falls College and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1980.

Christine married Stewart Turnwall, the love of her life in 1985.  Their family was completed with the birth of Dennis in 1987.  They shared a life in Sioux Falls until her passing. She began her career at Sheehan Equipment and rose to be the Senior Fuel Tax Auditor at the Department of Revenue. She also helped Stew grow his trucking business.

Chris loved to share her faith in many ways—she volunteered at Renner Lutheran Church as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, President and Treasurer of the Church council. She also volunteered at KNWC Life 96.5 and led the LifeLight Music Festival Financial Team for many years.

Chris’ passion for travel was well known, she was able to fulfill her dream to visit Italy, France, Austria and the Holy Land.  She and Stew loved to travel together, especially since retirement.  She was quite adventurous and shared her love for thrills with Dennis, from theme parks to even riding on each new motorcycle.

She will always be remembered for her love of her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Stewart; children, Wendy (Rob) Krull, Benjamin Olivier, Dennis Turnwall and Michelle (Clifford) Vander Heyden; grandchildren, Niobe, Cedric (Bella), Emmyai (Gabrielle), Alex, Jordan, Grace and Easton; great grandchildren, Paizlee Rae and Elluzion; brother, Mark (Anna) Meeter, and sister Carmen (Steve) Crowe; mother, Georgia; and many other beloved relatives and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by beloved grandparents, Ernest and Irene Meeter and mother-in-law, Bernice Turnwall.
