Charlotte Marie Johnson

Charlotte Marie Johnson, age 81, of Baltic, SD, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, with family by her side, due to complications from lung cancer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2025, at Baltic Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be at a later date at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.

Charlotte was born on February 27, 1944, in Aberdeen, SD to Ernest and Mary (Keller) McCleerey. She graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1962. She married Sonny Gebhardt on May 26, 1962, and with this union, had 4 daughters. On February 18, 1999, she married Verne Johnson.

Charlotte moved to Baltic, SD in November 1976. She held various jobs over the years, but her favorite was working in the kitchen at nursing homes. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and having a Michelob Ultra with friends—her favorite pastime. No one cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than she did, and they lovingly called her GG.

Charlotte is survived by daughters Stacy (Gary) Forsch, Deanna (Todd) Thompson, Gina (Brian) Page, and son-in-law Steve Tidemann. Grandchildren Derek (Julia) Thompson, Amanda (Wade) Farland, Taylor (Dominic) Wieseler, Brendan (Shelby) Tidemann, Matthew (Mikayla) Thompson, Morgan (Tanner) Engbrecht, Jayda (Sam) Muston. Great grandchildren Ava, Brooklyn, Chloe, Jaxson, Summit, Kaylee, Paisley, Cade, Kenlee, Tate, Emery, Cameron. Stepchildren Brian (Mary Lou) Johnson, Greg Johnson

Charlotte was a member of the Baltic Lutheran Church.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, siblings George and Ardella, daughter Hollie Tidemann, and husband, Verne.
