Marcella Schubert, age 84, of Brandon, SD, formerly of Garretson, SD, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Private family services will be held on Friday, with burial in the Flowerfield Cemetery, Hills, MN.

Marcella was born September 10, 1930, in Hills, Minnesota, to Lars and Ida (Kolsrud) Roning. She graduated in 1949 from Hills High School. On June 26, 1954, Marcella married Donald Schubert in Hills and later moved to Lester, Iowa. They moved their family to Garretson in 1968. Donald and Marcella moved to Brandon in 2011.

Marcella is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald (Dutch) Schubert; five children: Donald (Diane) Schubert of Coralville, IA, Calvin (Pat) Schubert of Sisseton, SD, Robin Schubert of Sioux Falls, Kevin (Irene) Schubert of LaVista, NE, and Michelle Schubert of Brandon; six grandchildren: Kyle (Brooke), Karyn, Kristen, Alex, Alexis, and Adam; a great-grandson, Anders; two brothers: Dennis Roning of Black Duck, MN, and Ray Roning of Hills; a sister, Pearl Sundem of Hills; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, James Roning.
