Lyle David Bucher, 69, of Garretson died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Dougherty Hospice House. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Garretson. Visitation with the family will begin one hour before the service. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery, Sioux Falls.

Lyle David Bucher was born April 24, 1944 in Sioux Falls to parents Clifford and Eva (Scott) Bucher. He grew up in the Garretson area and graduated from Garretson High School in 1964. After his education he and his brother Clint entered the United States Navy. He lived for a few years in Haakon County where he helped area ranchers.

After the death of his mother, he donated land to Minnehaha County near the Bucher farm to be used as a Bucher Prairie Park.

Survivors include his sister, LaVonne (Fred Samplatsky) Bendt, Sioux Falls; Dale Bucher, Yankton; Clint (Maryls) Bucher, Excelsior, MN; Steve (Donna) Bucher, Plankinton; and eight nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Eva Bucher.
