Clair Eugene Engebretson, age 80, of Sherman, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Palisade Healthcare Community in Garretson. Memorial services will begin at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson.

Clair was born on February 7, 1934, in Highland Township, Sherman, South Dakota, to Elmer and Lorenza (Stensland) Engebretson, on the farm on which he lived his entire life until his health made it necessary for him to move to Palisade Manor in 2011. He attended Lincoln Country Grade School, and Garretson High School. He received a superior rating for his piano playing at a regional music contest. He continued to serenade the family with his piano and organ playing throughout his life.

Clair is survived by his brother, Roger (DeVona) Engebretson of Sherman; nephew, Gary Engebretson; and nieces: Cheryl (Steve) Holzapfel, Beth (James) Plahn, and Cathy Engebretson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lorenza Engebretson, and a nephew, Warren Engebretson.
