Hazel was a lifetime member of East Nidaros Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was also a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Baltic. Hazel spent many hours helping others, cleaning both homes and businesses. She also worked in the cafeteria at the EROS Data Center. Hazel’s greatest joy was watching her grandchildren play basketball, both home and away. She especially enjoyed traveling to the state tournaments and cheering on the team. She also loved playing bingo, winning big at card games, and taking a quick trip to Flandreau to check out the nickel machines. One of Hazel’s greatest accomplishments was hand embroidering baby blankets for her great-grandchildren, as well as making many sets of dish towels and pillow cases.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her son, Kent; her parents; and ten brothers and two sisters: Marvin (infant), Marvin, Norman, Orvald, Alice (Oien) Solbak, Roy, Ernest, Harry, Arnold, Jennings, Mae Nesheim, and Clifford.
