Alvin "Sonny" Aldrich

Alvin “Sonny” Aldrich, 82, of Colton passed away Thursday, September 1, 20011 at Sanford Medical Center.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am Monday, September 5, 2011 at First Lutheran Church in Colton.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm Sunday with the family present from 5 to 7:00 pm at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Colton.

Alvin was born February 17, 1929. He joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Mobile, AL. There he married Margaret Wasserleben on January 21, 1952. Sonny was a farmer all of his life until they moved to Colton. He also worked at the Colton Elevator for many years.

Having been a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Margaret; children, Peggy (Jerry) Grode, Sioux Falls, SD; Kim (Jerry) Bamsey, Howard, SD; Allen (fiancé, Melissa) Aldrich, Houston, TX; Margo (Dale) Stewart, Kimball, SD and Jerry Aldrich, Colton, SD. He had eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Darlene Lofstedt, Colton, SD and two brothers, Marvin Aldrich, Madison, SD and Keith Aldrich, Nixa, MO.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Lena Aldrich.

Alvin had a great love for his family, friends and community.
